Case study
Two Oud Oils and a Filled Retail Vial, in One Season
The buyer was launching a plantation-oud collection across three retail price points in a single season. They wanted one supplier for the oil and for the filled, labelled vial. Splitting those across two vendors puts the fill schedule outside anyone’s control, and the fill schedule is what decides whether a launch date holds.

The constraint
What ruled out the obvious answer
The launch date was set by the retail season and could not move. Artwork also had to clear Saudi label registration before any mass print. That ruled out the usual sequence of approving the oil first and the packaging afterwards. Both had to run in parallel, which is the part that makes this kind of programme fail.
What changed
The specification, not the relationship
Both oils came out of the same distillation programme rather than being bought separately, so the tiers sit on one aromatic family instead of reading as three unrelated products. Each grade shipped against its own batch certificate, with the lot number printed on the vial matching the number on the report. Filling, labelling and the rigid outer box ran here, against a pre-production sample approved in writing before any tooling was cut.
Results
What moved, and how it was counted
Approved artwork to first delivery
Six weeks
How it was counted. Measured from written artwork approval to the first consignment leaving our floor. The label re-print described below sat before that point, not inside it.
Reorder interval
Once a quarter, no gap since 2022
How it was counted. Counted from our own order book against the retail calendar: one reorder in each quarter for three consecutive years.
Lot number on the vial matches the certificate
Every consignment
How it was counted. Their incoming check compares the number printed on the vial with the number on the paperwork in the pack. It has matched on every consignment.
What was hard
The part that did not go smoothly
The first label proof did not survive Saudi registration. One ingredient phrase needed re-translating. We caught it at the pre-production sample rather than after the print run, so no stock was scrapped, but it still cost about two weeks of their float before the season. The corrected wording is now the template for anything going into the GCC, which is why years two and three did not repeat it.
