The plate holder is the volume SKU in this category and the one most often specified badly. Three things decide whether it works: bore fit, plate diameter and packing. Everything else is glaze choice.
Bore fit is where most sourcing goes wrong. Sticks in this trade run from 1.2 mm fine Japanese koh to 3.5 mm thick Arabic formats. A bore drilled for a single diameter either refuses the thick sticks or lets the fine ones lean and drop ash off the plate. Our bore is tapered and grips across the full range, verified in production against 1.2, 1.8, 2.2, 3.0 and 3.5 mm reference sticks. Practically, that means one holder SKU can bundle with any stick SKU you carry.
Plate diameter follows physics rather than photography. A stick burning at a slight lean drops ash between 40 and 90 mm from the base depending on length. So a plate under 100 mm will not contain it. We build to 110 mm, which covers sticks up to 21 cm. For 30 cm Arabic sticks, use the boat format instead.
On packing: ceramic breakage in transit is the single largest avoidable cost in this line. Each piece ships in an individually foam-lined box inside a double-wall master carton of 40. Bulk-packing to save a few cents per unit reliably costs more in replacement freight and damaged retail relationships than it ever saves.

Will this fit both fine Japanese sticks and thick Arabic sticks?
Yes — the bore is tapered and grips from 1.2 mm to 3.5 mm, verified in production against reference sticks across that range. It is the reason one holder SKU can be bundled with any stick SKU in your range rather than needing a matched holder per format.
Is 110 mm large enough to catch the ash?
For sticks up to 21 cm, yes. Ash from a leaning stick falls 40 to 90 mm from the base depending on length. For 30 cm Arabic sticks the fall is beyond any practical plate and you should use the full-length boat format instead.
How much breakage should I expect in transit?
We do not publish a breakage rate, because we have not run a counted transit trial and a figure we cannot show you the record for is worth nothing. What we can tell you is the packing: individually foam-lined boxes inside a double-wall master carton of 40. We replace transit breakage above 1%. If you re-pack for onward shipping, keep the individual boxes.
