Batch-Traceable Oud Extract — A Certificate Per Lot, Not Per Line

Supercritical CO₂ extraction pressurises carbon dioxide past its critical point, where it behaves as a solvent, runs it through the resinous heartwood, and then simply releases the pressure so the CO₂ evaporates and leaves nothing behind. Two consequences matter commercially. First, nothing is heated, so the volatile top notes that hydro-distillation destroys are still present in the finished extract. Second, there is no residual solvent, which is why this route is acceptable in applications where hexane extraction is not.

The resulting material smells noticeably different from traditional oud oil. It opens bright, clean and faintly green before settling into the same resinous woody base. It has none of the fermented, animalic, barnyard character that comes from the pre-distillation soak. For a perfumer building a modern oud accord, that is exactly what is wanted — the base note without the funk. A top that gives the composition somewhere to start. For a traditional Gulf attar house, it is the wrong material. We will say so rather than sell it to you.

Every batch is GC-MS profiled and the report is tied to the batch number printed on your bottle, not to a generic specimen for the product line. The profile reports sesquiterpene and chromone markers against an Aquilaria reference fingerprint, which resolves the adulteration question analytically rather than by nose. We hold a sealed retention sample for three months from dispatch, so a dispute raised inside that window is settled against physical evidence.
