Temple Incense Sticks — Two to Four Hours per Stick

Almost everything else in this category is engineered around one person sitting with one stick for twenty to forty-five minutes. Temple and ceremonial supply is a different problem: one stick has to outlast a service, be visible from across a hall, and not shed ash across a floor that someone has to clean.

That drives every specification. Length runs 40, 60 or 90 cm. Diameter goes up to 5 mm so the stick is mechanically stable at that length and burns slowly. Binder sits at the upper end of the window. That costs some aromatic intensity and buys burn stability — the correct trade for this use. Burn rate comes out at 3.3 mm per minute, the slowest in our range, giving two to four hours per stick.

Ash behaviour is the specification temple buyers actually ask about, and most suppliers cannot answer. A stick in a tall censer drops ash from a metre or more, so a column that collapses early spreads it across the floor. We hold the column to roughly 45 mm, which keeps the fall contained within the censer footprint.

Commercially this is a channel most exporters ignore because it does not look like retail. It buys on consistency and price rather than presentation, it reorders against a fixed religious calendar rather than a merchandising season. It takes unbranded product in kraft bundles. For a supplier with steady production, it is unusually stable volume.
